Record the alarm or observation, stop the appropriate equipment and prevent more bottles or closures entering the affected zone.
Fault recovery
A trigger capper should recover from a jam through a defined safe sequence: stop the relevant motion, isolate or make the hazard safe under the site procedure, identify and remove the cause, control all affected bottles and closures, restore the correct machine state, and approve first-off packs before normal production resumes. Restart alone is not evidence that pack quality is acceptable.
Recovery sequence
The stop response should match the location and hazard. It may need to stop closure feeding, placement, tightening, bottle transfer and connected upstream or downstream equipment in a coordinated state. The exact safety response must come from the machine and line risk assessment; a normal process stop is not automatically a safe condition for access.

Follow the approved isolation, guarding and access procedure before reaching into or working on the machinery.
Check closure presentation, dip-tube position, bottle control, tooling, sensors and the line state rather than only removing the visible obstruction.
Hold bottles that may have missed placement, started incorrectly, been double handled or remained in the machine during the stop.
Return settings and guards to the approved state, run a controlled restart and release first-off packs using the agreed inspection method.
The affected boundary can include bottles before, inside and after the visible jam. Consider bottles that lost spacing, received no closure, received a partially seated closure, remained under a head, or passed downstream before the fault was recognised. Define the hold boundary in the recovery procedure.
Confirm the obstruction and root condition are removed, tools and loose components are clear, guards and interlocks are restored, closure and bottle paths are correctly loaded, settings remain approved, and held packs are segregated. Restart should begin at a controlled rate where the procedure requires it.
Inspect the first-off sequence using the agreed checks for tube entry, thread engagement, cap height, torque or approved alternative, orientation and appearance. Release only after the required number of consecutive acceptable packs or other defined criterion has been met.
Useful records include time, machine state, alarm, feeder level, bottle format, closure lot, operator action, affected station, line demand and the last change or adjustment. Video can help with motion, but it should be linked to the event and physical sample evidence.
